The Walls are Up!! and painted

We have been busy with the "barn raising" even though I haven't said much lately.

We have walls in place and they're red!

Using the heavy duty construction tool (aka white glue) walls were pretty securely put into place. (I was impressed with how solid they are once they dry).

Next post will have more pictures and more details.

Andie Illustr8tes

So let me expand on my fly-by blog of last night.

I found this great Etsy artist last night who is running a very creative contest (both for you and her!)

Andie posts a suggestion word on her blog and it is up to us as an audience to come up with a word to go with it, the more off the wall the better!

This week's word is LOVE (I am racking my brain for something creative to go with it). Visit her blog at http://www.andieillustrates.blogspot.com/ for all the details.

Andie then picks a suggestion and creates a new piece of art from it! Sounds like a blast to me!

See above for one of her listings on her Etsy website, http://www.etsy.com/shop/ScribblesAndNibs. Stop by and visit, she would love to see you!

Barn "Bee" update

Okay, so we have opened the box and boy do they have lots and lots and lots of parts.

(reminds me of the Xmas when my older daughter got a Barbie camper from one of my family "with some assembly required". ....... grrrrr)

Actually, to be honest, I think this might be something that comes together very decently.

The kit is well laid out and I am very impressed with how sturdy the pieces are. The walls are milled with the "clapboard siding" on the outside.

Step 1 - glue two end walls on the base with...... white glue?????....... is this really gonna hold?
Pictures above show step one in progress.

Troubleshooting Late at night

Well, here I am with my other hat on, the one that actually pays the bills.

I was paged about half an hour ago for the IT job that takes up waaaaay too many jewellery hours.
Logged into the system at work only to discover a "glitch" that is rearing its ugly head just before I go to bed.
Paged another member of our IT team to help with the problem solving but haven't heard back yet. Hmmmmm, bet they are asleep already, lucky them.
Will have to revert to plan G (or am I up to K by now??)
Gotta get back to work. TTYL

The Barn "Bee"

Remember the old fashioned quilting bees they used to have..........well me neither but it seemed like a good way to start this post.

Being the good parents that we are, my husband and I went to the miniature dollhouse store on the weekend to "look" at the barn kit we were interested in for our daughter. (I really went to ohhh and ahhhh over everything)

Here is the completed version that the company uses on the website.

I will post the "stages" as we put this together.

BTW - did I mention that my daughter is already googling how to make the proper scale tack (read bridle and saddle) for her horses.

We had to tell her to be gentle with her parents or none of it may ever get done. LOL

Leslie's Purple Passion

This is a custom order for someone I work with who is passionate about....... you guessed it.....purple!

I was asked to create a bracelet with purple being the focus ......... have a look and see how I did!

My younger daughter rides horses and is totally enamoured of the Breyer horses!
They are practically every other word she says!
My husband and I decided we would build her a barn for her horses.

Well, the resurrection of an old love! When I was a teenager, I used to love miniatures........ dollhouse miniatures. So I started looking at some local store web-sites to see what elements we could find to build said dream barn.

This is going to be a blast! Can't wait to get started. I will update with plans and pictures as they happen. (trying googling for miniature stall doors for fun LOL)

The fine art of balancing

I think as women we try to balance far too much!

I work full time, commute an obscene amount of time and am trying to establish myself in a well saturated industry ..... in my spare time!
(not to mention juggling a couple of kids with my husband)

Amazing what people will commit to given the right incentive.
I have been creating jewellery for about 3 years with a group of friends. We started off not knowing much but were willing to learn. We would take turns bringing something new to learn to the group. What a blast!

Our group has evolved over the years until two of us really are still committed (in both ways!)
We both actively pursue the elusive customer with our wiley wares!

I have to admit I love the challenge of learning something new and the absolute satisfaction that a completed piece can give you (especially when someone admires it)
